Trouble with iPhone update

Hello! I have received directions to connect my iphone 13 overnight for a planned update - and in the morning I find a message stating the installation hit an error, and a twirling wheel on a 'Verifying Status' message. I'm in noway tech savvy - took me a while to find a way back to an operating phone.

This has happened twice, and I'm not eager to try again. Any thoughts on this?

Apple Devices software has just bricked my iPhone12 Pro I connected my iPhone12 Pro to Apple Devices software and it told me there was an update available. I waited for the backup to PC to complete then started the update. The download completed then the iPhone device display 'rebooted' to display the Apple logo with a progress bar beneath. The progress bar got to about 60% then the Apple Devices software displays an error message: "An unknown error occurred (1109). 06B4.000" The update goes no further. What do I do now? If the update has destroyed my iPhone I need Apple to fix it or give me a replacement as prior to the update it was working perfectly.

Update manually, rather than automatically, so you can see the status and error messages.

Go to Settings/General/Software Update and tap Update Now.
