Why can't i see my devices

I have a macbook air- Ventura 13.4

The issue i am having at the moment is that i for some reason cannot see my other devices, ( i have two ipads). I can't see them in finder, and they randomly disconnect so i can't even mirror sometimes. the ipad is an iPadOS 16.4.1( not to worried about the other one.) Im worried about this because according to every search i have conducted i am suppose to be able to do this. ( the one on the bottom is mine, the one on top(in purple) is what i want it to look like)
