To my understanding iPhones come with 1 year limited warranty that is applied internationally. You can try opening the "Support" app on the iPhone and go to an authorised repair shop to perform the repair (hope your screen is still working at least).
Your understanding is incorrect. iPhones do not have an international warranty. The Apple warranty (and even Apple authorized repair out of warranty) is only valid in the country where the phone was purchased, the one exception being the EU; a phone purchased in any EU country is covered in all EU countries. See→Apple One (1) Year Limited Warranty, specifically:
IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD, APPLE TV and HOMEPOD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and HomePod to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.
