Why Apple weather app is inaccurate

The Apple weather app give a wrong and inaccurate information about the weather in my city. So I have to use a 3rd party app to get a right information. Hopefully the Apple company know about it and fix it in a next updates!

Actually, right in the Weather app is the best place to report the inaccuracy where it says "Report an Issue". When you tap on that, you describe the current conditions, and that along with your anonymized location is sent to Apple so they can figure out what data source is currently being used there and better understand the inaccuracy. At least that is the intent so they can get the real time data. That is not going to be possible on the reportaproblem website.

Palmer Alaska temperature posted on my iPhone 13 Pro Max IOS has been consistently 8° to 10° higher than actual temperature reported on other sources I’ve checked. A degree or two difference is expected but not 10°.

Review the data sources used to determine the weather in your location:

It may be one of these:

https://www.noaa.gov

You can also use the Report an Issue option in the app to post your current weather conditions if it is not accurate:

I assume you have already reported the inaccuracy in the Weather app and I would suggest you continue to do that. The Weather channel is one source of information used by the app, but there are several others as well. Your phone is not a weather station and Apple is not a meteorologist, they simply rely on other sources that do specialize in that service and give that information to you based on your location. By reporting the inaccuracy, it may help them rely on a more accurate source for your region instead of the one that is currently being used. When reporting the inaccuracy Apple will then receive the information needed to make that decision without any data being linked to your Apple Account.

Also when viewing your location in the Maps app, make sure that it shows the correct location, so the data that is sent to them is accurate.

I'm in Southern Indiana where every other weather app is saying the current temperature is 20 degrees (which feels correct) and the Apple app is saying 12. Crazy! Is there a way to report this to Apple?

Yep, it is right in the Weather app where it says Report an Issue. You will be prompted to enter your current conditions and that information along with your anonymized location data will be sent to Apple.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION? Sorry to inundate this thread. It seemed to me that the problems started recently and might have been related to a recent IOS update. Last evening, I went into Settings, scrolled down to Apps, scrolled down to the Weather app and completely turned off Location. I then went into the app itself and deleted all the locations from the app. I might have done similar on my iWatch but don't remember. I'm also not certain if I rebooted both devices. I then went back to the app via Settings as described above and turned Location on to always. The app then populated a current location inside the app. This is sort of a general description of what I did and my apologies if I don't have all the steps correct. The app on the phone and my IWatch now seems to be accurate. I have not found another app that displays as well in the modular face on the iWatch so am glad that I seem to have the app working correctly again. I hope this is helpful for others.

Yes, the Weather app is now entirely useless in obtaining a forecast. It can tell me what’s happening at the moment, but I can look out my window and see that. It will say it’s going to be sunny tomorrow when all of the other weather apps and our local TV news weather says it’s going to snow. Needless to say, it will snow. I’m now using The Weather Channel app, Yahoo Weather or Weather Bug. They all seem to give similar and more accurate forecasts. I’ve reported the issue to Apple but I’ve found them to be very unresponsive in the past.

I think I may know what’s been happening. As it turns out, you should make certain to have ONLY A SINGLE WEATHER APP installed on both the phone and the watch. My SO had multiple weather apps and when she had the watch set to mirror the iphone it was connected to, it seemed to be getting confused maybe because it was polling from multiple weather apps. Those weather apps were also mirrored on the  Watch. I set it to Apple’s weather app and all has been fine ever since.

By the way, once I deleted the other weather apps from the phone and then on the watch toggled off the setting for Apple Weather under the  Watch’s “Background App Refresh” setting, waited 15 seconds then toggled it on I turned the watch off then rebooted the iPhone and logged in. I then turned the watch on and it’s been steady ever since.

Here’s a substitute for Apple weather that’s free and highly accurate.

This is the Dallas forecast. Enter your location and then save the page to your Home Screen. You can get hyperlocal forecasts by using the map, and hour by hour graphs, which are super helpful for planning your day. Try it.

It looks like there is general agreement that the weather app is broken and there does not seem to be any permanent fix. I would be surprised to find that Apple's engineers watch these pages. A few weeks ago I reported the problem to Apple. I think I used the following link: https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ I would suggest that everyone report the problem to Apple as Apple needs to be aware that the problem is wide ranging.
