How to fix a cracked Trackpad on MacBook Pro?

Trackpad MacBook Pro 15’ suddenly broke

Hello everyone, my two months old brand new laptop suddenly decided to surprise me today with a cracked trackpad out of nowhere, the crack is from side to side horizontally and the crack seems to be internal (can’t actually feel it on the touch or with the nail) the battery is okay 100% capacity and no message showed.

Anyone have clue?

Thanks everyone who will respond in advance

Hi there! My two-month old M3 MBA just pulled this stunt on me last night. Luckily, I made an appointment with the Apple Store and they were able to fix it under warranty. It took about a week, because they had to order the part need to replace the trackpad!

My biggest note is to make sure that you have AppleCare so that you have the coverage at all times

I literally just opened my MacBook Air M2 and experienced the exact issue except a diagonal crack on the trackpad that seems to be internal. What was the solution to this issue?

If you bought DIRECT from Apple, not from a Reseller of any kind, Apple return policy within FIRM 14 days from receipt gives them FAR more latitude. Take it to the store you bought it from, be polite and professional, and ask for refund/replacement.

in all other cases, glass breakage is explicitly NOT covered under regular warranty, and individual Apple employees are powerless to change the policy for you. If you try to pressure them, you will force only them to say things that are unkind.

I had the same thing and I went to the Apple Store and they said that I does not appear out of no were and that I must of did it. so annoying because they don't believe you. and it cost I think $200 or more. if you have no apple care. and even I you bought it less then a year ago you still have to pay it. I love apple but this is just annoying and disappointing

Same happened to me. Last night I used my Mac Air M2, all good - this morning woke up and when I opened it there was a crack out of nowhere in the corner of the trackpad. Nothing was pressing it, it just appeared. It's frustrating that Apple is still not addressing this issue that seems to be very common... we need solutions! Is that replaceable when taken to an Apple centre ? ANSWERS!

I am a long term user and big fan of Apple and its products. Seldom can you complain about the fit and finish of any Apple item but I recently I had a problem with my MacBook Air M2 as others on this thread. I was using the computer seated at a desk for many hours, got up to take a break, and when I came back, noticed what I thought was a hair on my keypad. I tried to brush it away, but found that it was an internal crack, not even on the surface of the keypad. From the time I got up, to the time I got back was less than 15 minutes and there was no external activity they could've affected this MacBook.

I took it to the Apple Store the following weekend and as of now, they are not recognizing this as a systematic problem.
