Blu-ray Disc Creation

So... I feel really dumb about this, (that's the bad news) but PROBLEM SOLVED (the good news): As we talked about, I didn't create any menu. In the "Share" options for a Blu-ray DVD, the option on what to do when you insert the resulting disc gives 2-options: Menu, or Play Disc. I never thought much about it but I had Menu selected (I think it was the Default setting). The player never got past looking for a menu!!!! Thank you guys for your sincere suggestions! But all works great! No... still no BD icon. But that's another not so serious problem...

The problem is with the created Blu-ray discs. They are not recognized by a standard player. The player has no problem recognizing a commercially produced B-R disc. Just using the image on the computer doesn't show the problem. The image plays on the computer just fine using B-R playing software. So I'm not sure if the problem is with Final Cut Pro (which I have been using) and Compressor (which I have not been using)or whether it is the operating system. I suspect the OS is the problem. The B-R files created on the computer also don't have an icon. The icon is blank. But the BDMV file and the CERTIFICATE folder and contents appear to be normal on the computer.

So, here's where I am: I've ruled out the Sony player, the external disc burner, Toast 20, Mac OS 13. It now appears to me to be a Final Cut Pro 10.6.6 problem. I got rid of all my Chapter markers and still ended up with Chapters every 5-minutes. After reading up in the FCP manual, it appears that FCP inserts Chapter markers every 5-minutes if you don't put any in, yourself. How do you get around that? Or do the FCP chapters not count as part of the problem?

Gee, I hate to lose the chapter markers, but I am creating an image file out of FCP. And I am not using a startup screen. I'm going back to when making a B-R disc did work. Looks like about 2006, Snow Leopard, time that B-R was introduced. My old laptop with Snow Leopard does recognize the B-R icon, but I can't play a B-R disc on my external optical drive in Snow Leopard. I also did reinstall Ventura and FCP fresh from Apple. Didn't solve the problem as some have experienced. But things seem to be running a bit more crisply! Thanks much for the responses so far!! It's "nice" to know I'm not the only one to run into this.

My markers seem to work OK. Actually, the way this all dawned on me, was I went thru all the steps to produce my video in an older version of FCP. And when I got to the “Sharing” step I had an epiphony! 🙂
