I have gone into the iTunes Store and can see my purchases. However I cannot redownload any of the songs as the download button does not appear. Also, when I click on the song to play it, it cannot find it and when I search my computer, it is not found. Any idea how to get the download icon back? This is on a MacBook Air and the Apple Music app.

OK so I went into the hidden purchases and nothing is there. I can see the purchases (as shown in my screenshot below). I tried your second link as well but it did not work. I did look up the article on redownloading content and none of their suggestions worked either.
Is your computer signed into your Apple ID and authorized? Your unhidden purchases that haven't been downloaded to the computer should show in your library, with either a cloud symbol, download icon, or right-click context menu option that will allow you to download them. Check your View menu to make sure that you've not limited the view to downloaded content only.

It is authorized but I went ahead and deauthorized and reauthorized it but unfortunately I am still having no luck. I went to my other computer and can see the download options for everything and compared settings and cannot find a difference. Additionally, I just downloaded two more songs from the iTunes Store and after buying them was never prompted to download them and the cloud icon does not appear. I could download them on the other computer and move them over, but I really do not want to have to make that extra step every time.

Try holding down option+cmd as you launch Music to open it in its safe mode. This sometimes resolves odd issues with the library.
