I don’t have a photo stream

If I don’t have a “my photo stream” in my albums on my iPhone I’m guessing my photos are safe in the cloud-correct?

"My Photo Stream" was a precursor to iCloud Photos. Most people have transitioned to iCloud. If you don't see a My Photo Stream folder/album you don't use it and don't have to be concerned about it going away.
