If i deleted a conversation before the IOS 16 update are they gone forever?
I accidentally deleted a conversation on iMessages before the new iOS 16 update, is there any way I can get them back?

This will depend on your setup with Messages on your iPhone.
If you have enabled Messages in iCloud in Settings > Your Name > iCloud, then you would not be able to recover your deleted messages. The reason for this is that when your Messages are syncing with iCloud, they are no longer included in your iCloud backups and aren't recoverable.
If you created a backup of your device before upgrading to iOS 16 and were not using Messages in iCloud, then you may be able to recover them by restoring that backup. Please keep in mind that using this option will remove any data you obtained between todays date and the date of the backup.
