If your iPhone 14 Pro Max silences a few calls after a few seconds, but on some calls it rings for the whole time, there could be several factors contributing to this behavior. Here are a few possibilities to consider:

  1. Check if the "Do Not Disturb" feature is enabled on your iPhone. When this feature is active, incoming calls and notifications are silenced, and you will not be alerted with ringtones or vibrations. You can verify the status of Do Not Disturb by checking the Control Center or going to Settings > Do Not Disturb. If it's enabled, you can disable it or adjust the settings to allow calls to come through. Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
  2. It's possible that you have certain numbers blocked or have enabled the "Silence Unknown Callers" feature. Blocked numbers or calls from unknown callers may be silenced or sent directly to voicemail. Check your blocked contacts list and the settings for the Silence Unknown Callers feature to ensure it's not affecting incoming calls. Have you enabled Detect and block spam phone calls?
  3. Verify the physical Ring/Silent switch on the side of your iPhone. If it's switched to the silent position, incoming calls will be silenced and sent to voicemail. Ensure the switch is in the ring position to allow calls to ring audibly.
    1. Check this, first.
    2. Check your DND status - Settings > Focus [Do Not Disturb]; Use Focus on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    3. Check BedTime Status - Clock App; Use Bedtime to track your sleep on your iPhone - Apple Support
    4. Check your iPhone Sound Volume; Adjust the volume on your iPhone - Apple Support
    5. Check Call Audio Routing; Call Audio Routing Bluetooth / Speaker / Automatic
    6. Check Auto Answer Calls; Turn off Auto Answer Calls
    7. Check the list of Blocked Numbers --> Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone ...
  4. If you have call forwarding or call waiting enabled on your iPhone, it could impact the behavior of incoming calls. Ensure that these features are properly configured and not causing calls to be redirected or silenced unintentionally. You may have Set up call forwarding and call waiting on iPhone
  5. Network or carrier-related settings or limitations could affect call behavior. It's worth contacting your mobile carrier to ensure there are no specific restrictions or settings that could be causing the issue.

If the issue persists after checking these possibilities, it may be helpful to contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting based on your device's configuration and any additional information you can provide about the problem.

What type Calls are having this issue? On an iPhone, you can make and receive various types of calls. Here are the different types:

  1. These are standard voice calls made over the cellular network. They utilize your carrier's voice network to connect you with other phone numbers.
  2. FaceTime Audio allows you to make voice calls over Wi-Fi or cellular data using your internet connection. It provides higher audio quality compared to traditional cellular calls.
  3. FaceTime Video enables you to have video calls with other FaceTime users. It uses the front or rear camera on your iPhone to transmit live video during the call.
  4. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls use internet connectivity to make phone calls. Apps like Skype, WhatsApp, Viber, and Google Hangouts utilize this technology, allowing you to make voice and video calls over the Internet.
  5. Some carriers support Wi-Fi calling, which allows you to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi network instead of relying solely on cellular coverage. This can be useful in areas with weak cellular reception.
  6. The App Store offers numerous calling apps that utilize different technologies. These apps can provide additional features and options for making calls, such as international calling, call recording, and more.

It's important to note that the availability of certain call types may depend on your iPhone model, iOS version, and carrier.
