How do I get my Playlist on Apple Watch to match my Playlist on the iPhone?

How do I get my Playlist on the Apple Watch Music App to match my Playlist on the iPhone? When I start playing the Playlist on the Watch, it will play random songs from within the Playlist instead of “Recently Added” as I have set up on the iPhone.

Hey there KMAN781,

You mentioned that you're wanting to match a playlist on your watch from your iPhone, but you also mentioned that you're able to play the same songs on your watch from the same playlist. As it sounds like you are in fact able to sync your playlist between both devices, we want to help by learning more about what's happening, along with ruling out some possible causes:

  1. Are we correct in understanding the issue is that when playing an Apple Music playlist from your watch, it plays the songs within the playlist randomly? If that's right, do you have the shuffle feature enabled in your watch? You can check if it's enabled using the steps under the section 'Shuffle or repeat music' here: Play music on Apple Watch
  2. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone and Restart your Apple Watch
  3. If you paired your watch with a compatible iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.5.1. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then update: Update your iPhone or iPad If you have a compatible watch model, the latest version is watchOS 9.5.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to update: Update your Apple Watch

Cheers!
