IPadOS 16.5 cover Lock / Unlock not working

My iPad Air 4 was updated iPadOS 16.5.1 this week, and since then the lock / unlock feature does not work when my cover is closed or opened. I’ve been using this cover since I purchased my iPad and the magnet does engage when it is closed.


I’ve tried turning off both auto lock and the lock / unlock, shutting down, then restarting, then reenabling the features…. The auto lock works, but the lock / unlock does not.

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand the Lock / Unlock feature isn't working since updating to iPadOS 16.5.1. It sounds like you've done some good troubleshooting so far. Restarting the iPad and toggling the option in Settings > Display & Brightness > Lock / Unlock were good steps. You may want to completely remove the cover and then restart your iPad and put the cover back on to see if the issue persists. If it does, we recommend contacting Apple Support for further assistance here: Get Support.
