smart cover no longer working for automatic lock/unlock feature

I have the ipad air 5 and for about a year now, I’ve been using this ipad case that I ordered off amazon. For the past year, there has been no issue with my ipad unlocking and locking whenever I opened and closed my ipad case but recently, that feature has stopped working. Nothing has happened with the case and I haven’t damaged my ipad at all so for it to just stop working out of nowhere has confused me. I’ve reset my ipad multiple times while toggling the ‘lock/unlock’ feature in settings and the problem still hasn’t been fixed. I also don’t believe the magnet in the case is the issue because it still attracts and attaches to my ipad whenever i close/open the case.

4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
