Compound clip won't open

I'm on a mac OS 13.4.1 and FCPX 10.6.6

The clip is a Photoshop .psd clip containing 15 layers.

I was manipulating the layers earlier today.

Turned off the computer to install some software.

When I reopened FCPX There was the compound clip, in the project I'd put it in, and the part I had worked on would play. I mean the various layers were doing their little moves inside the compound clip.

But when I double click on the clip, it doesn't open. It's as if it's a movie file.

And when I open the photoshop layers in the browser, they show no evidence of all the work I did.

This clip has the exact same name as the photoshop layers. It is the photoshop layers, and when I select "reveal in browser, it selects the photoshop layers, but it will not open in the timeline (where all the work was done. Check out the little movie that shows the work and plays in the timeline..

You cannot double click to open while you have the Range tool selected.

Press A for the arrow tool, then double click to open the Photoshop clip with all the layers.

If you want to do separate, different edits to different sections of this file, you need to Blade the clip. Just selecting a range will not do.

The image also shows that the Range tool is active and not the Select tool. You can't double click with the Range tool.

It looks like you might have to redo this work, before giving up, you may want to try:

a) Select All in the project, Copy, New Project, Paste. Does this new project show the clip as editable? Sometimes this little trick helps, when a project becomes subtly corrupted.

b) Export XML of the project, and import this XML. Does this new version work?

the image shows the range selected, but that was not the problem. I selected the range in order to output the little movie. It was never selected at any other time. I tried to double click as I would any compound clip. It is this particular clip that seems to have got corrupted somehow and it simply will not open.

TOM, thanks. As I explained above, The range tool is only on during the screenshot. I did NOT try to doubleclick with the range tool. I was selecting the "movie version" to show that the weird clip does have the modifications embedded but they do not show up in the frames and BELIEVE ME I did not attempt to double click with the range tool on. It's just a corrupted clip I guess. And I have to start over.

I tried that. Didn't work. starting over. Ugh! I've looked online, and other people have had this problem with compound clips failing to open. And this one has so many layers! It's just a bug that comes up from time to time apparently. I keep snapshotting the thing in case it happens again.

the little movie... The little movie. It plays, but will not open to show layers and there's no evidence of frames on the clip either...?
