Episode listing glitch

So this has happened twice so far, I bought multiple seasons of the same show and something happened where when I look on the library on Apple TV the episodes are listed by number order instead of season order, ex. The first episodes of all the seasons are placed together, then the second episodes, and so on and so forth, but they are not in proper chronological order. What can I do to solve this?

I see this happen a lot with Anime put out by Funimation/Crunchyroll where seasons would be sold in multiple parts. Each part of the season would have their metadata episode numbers starting with "1" instead of using their actual order number for a season. You used to be able to view these split seasons just fine in the now discontinued TV app, but the new Apple TV just jumbles everything together since it sees "season 1" from multiple purchases and combines them all.

So, one season of a show would be sold in two parts. Both parts would have metadata saying they are the same season, but both parts would have their episodes listed starting with 1. Now with the Apple TV app, it just shows Part 1 and Part 2 for these shows as a single continuous list of episodes, but it has multiple episode 1s, 2s, 3s, etc.

It's possible that something similar is happening with your TV purchases where there metadata needs to be changed to accommodate how the new Apple TV sorts things. It seems like Apple can't make these changes and needs the rights owner to update it. I have unfortunately not found a way to effectively get Apple to contact any rights owners to fix all of these broken shows since it seems like you have to go through a very long and unnecessary troubleshooting with their customer support to do anything.
