I can't download anything from iTunes recently

I can't download anything from iTunes anymore. Whenever I purchase something, it acts as though it's downloading but then just goes back to showing the price. The track appears in my purchased section on iTunes but nothing shows in my apple library (on the same device I purchased it from btw), nor is there an email receipt.
