Laptop Lid Won't Close

I recently dropped my laptop and dented the corner of it. I don't have a case, and I have dropped my MacBook a few times before. So I have multiple dents but they have never been an issue. I didn't think that this dent was an issue either until I tried to close my laptop and realized that it wouldn't close. Every time I try to close it, it springs back up. The gap is a little big, a few cm maybe. If I press down it will close for a few seconds before slowly springing up again. I'm really worried. My question is - Is it a big problem? Will I be able to use my laptop without issues if I choose to not get it repaired? Or will I have to repair it? And if I have to repair it, how much would it cost?

Edit: I just attached two pictures - one is of the dent that I think may be causing the problem, and the other is of the gap between the lid and laptop.
