Why won't my iPhone ring since the last update?

I just have to restart pretty much every day and then it starts ringing again.

This carries over to my watch as well. My watch will do one small tap and my phone doesn’t ring. I checked all focus/dnd setting, turned ringer off and back on and checked volume level. Nothing helps except restarting.

It could also be the “Elephant in the Room” whom everyone seems to presume innocent, in this whole happenstance.

SW developers are less than perfect people, too. They typically work long hours, and get tired, then make mistakes. They’ll mark things as “fixed” when still broken, etc. If you think Apple’s developers are immune to this, then I’ve got plenty of swamp land to sell you. (But no title, because you don’t need it :-)

Calls not ringing during scenarios of “continuity” with MacBooks or iPads…that’s a highly “plausible” potential bug, because it’s one that is VERY challenging for Apple to test against (for every potential nuanced scenario).

So let’s stop blaming “everything” except the SW developers, whom are typically where such blame lies, when a SW “update” comes along and then a mountain of anomalies starts flying right afterwards.

My iPhone 8 just recently no longer rings audibly and the speaker function doesn’t work. I completely worked through the list from Lawrence Finch, twice, and it still isn’t working. I’ve turned it off and on numerous times, but no luck. Anybody have any help besides what’s listed by Mr. Finch?

Running on 17.3 and not getting notifications to my watch, phone not ringing for texts or calls, snooze on alarm did not sound. Confirmed all setting are correct and also confirmed that multiple friends are having the same issue. One even missed her flight due to alarm not sounding.

This happened to me this morning. The first call my phone did not ring and when they called back my phone went straight to voicemail. My ringer was on and turned to max volume and I did not have a focus or sleep time turned on. I was on call for work and missed the calls, this needs to be fixed.

my device is relatively new. 15 pro max and I got it a few months ago. Ever since the last update or two I haven’t had it play sound at all if it’s locked. It’s weird. No focus mode is on. Silent isn’t on. I’ve checked the sound settings. All good there. Just won’t ring or play notifications. Only will if phone is unlocked. Very odd. So I always miss calls and texts now.

That list covers everything that can prevent the phone from ringing. If you truly tried everything in that list your phone is broken.

I’m having the same issue! And every step that people suggested has been tried. I’m not sure if it’s a glitch with the phone or carrier but it’s aggravating!
