Suspect hard drive

For 2019 iMac 21 in on Ventura 13.4.1.

Purchased Etrecheck App as advised by Apple Community to run checks on PC performance.

Results suggested an imminent hard drive failure. Went to Apple Store and they agreed and replaced it in March 2023. Scroll ahead to recent. PC running slow, many crash reports and Apps pop up w/o prompt. Apple support cleared my software through diagnostics and just had me to do a recovery to include a memory wipe and new strat up.Still running goofy and Etrecheck says this drive is running high on CPU's.

Any thoughts?

I am puzzled because when I mention Etrecheck to Apple Support they dont seem aware. Is this a legit App?

Hi there!

Don't worry! EtreCheck is a real app that's helpful in diagnosing issues with your Mac.

Could you upload a new EtreCheck report? This would help us with troubleshooting your Mac. If you need help, refer to the steps below.

Open the app, and generate a report

Open the downloaded application, and follow the initial steps to open the app. Choose a problem in the drop-down menu, and click Start. Creating a report typically takes 2-4 minutes on a healthy Mac.

View your report, and upload a copy to Apple Support Community

Once you have your report generated, you can upload it to Apple Support Community for us to review and provide suggestions. Please refer to this document with instructions for uploading your report and using the “Additional Text” function of Apple Support Community:

How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report - Apple Community

Thanks!

EtreCheck is indeed a legitimate app that is commonly used for diagnosing and analyzing the performance of Mac computers. It provides detailed reports on various aspects of your system, including hardware, software, and potential issues. The app can help identify problems and suggest solutions for improved performance.

If you have used EtreCheck and it indicated an imminent hard drive failure in the past, it is possible that the issue was resolved when Apple replaced the hard drive in March 2023. However, if you are currently experiencing slow performance, crash reports, and unexpected app behavior, it could indicate another underlying issue.

It's important to note that while EtreCheck can provide helpful insights, it is always recommended to consult with Apple Support or an authorized service provider for a comprehensive diagnosis. They have access to advanced diagnostic tools and can provide accurate guidance based on your specific situation.

When communicating with Apple Support, it's possible that the specific app or tool you mentioned may not be familiar to every support representative. However, they should still be able to assist you with troubleshooting and identifying the cause of the performance issues. Be sure to provide them with the relevant information about your system, any error messages or symptoms you are experiencing, and the steps you have already taken.

In summary, EtreCheck is a legitimate app that can provide valuable information about your Mac's performance. If you are still experiencing issues despite the replacement of the hard drive, it may be worth reaching out to Apple Support again for further assistance and troubleshooting.
