Microsoft Word on Mac blocked document

Cannot open the Word application, because the document " Microsoft protecting your Privacy" is stuck, only Force Quit works. Going in circles on the Microsoft account website through security and privacy panels, no luck.

Thank you for helping.

Hi karinga,

If the only issue you were having was with the Microsoft Word app, it is more likely that the app itself may have been the issue.

However, we do have some steps for you to use to check your user profile.

1. What we want to do is try starting up in safe mode, as safe mode does some system checks, and can sometimes resolve issues. How to use safe mode on your Mac

It may take longer to finish the start up, and you'll also see some differences in the display. This is expected with safe mode, and when you restart normally, they'll be gone.

Test the app, and then restart your Mac normally to end safe mode, and test again.

2. Disk Utility can scan your system disk and verify or solve issues. How to repair a Mac disk with Disk Utility - Apple Support Follow the steps on that page to run First Aid.

For more info about Disk utility, check out the user guide: Disk Utility User Guide

Take care!

Corrupted User Profile? Apple does not address this subject and what to do precisely. They talk about shared or public files. Anyway, I have now a second admin User Profile on this machine, but am not sure enough how to move the files etc. etc. I have Time Machine back-ups (never used).

Kind regards

Many thanks for your reply. I spent 2 hours on a Microsoft Chat. we ended up creating a new Apple User Profile and installed Microsoft office and voila - Word problem solved.

Apparently a corrupted Mac User Profile, this may the reason for all other trouble I am having with the MBAir 2020 ! I am exhausted.

Now I would appreciate help to replace my corrupted user profile und transfer all my files.

Best regards with 32C from Andalucia
