Why is my battery cycle count increasing when the charge is above 50%?
I leave my MacBook charging most of the time. Two days ago the cycle count was 11 today it is 14.
I unplugged my MacBook yesterday to use it and when the battery was at 60% I plugged it in to charge. Today the I checked the cycle count it had increased by 3 cycles.
Battery cycles increase no mater what the starting charge percentage is. If you charge from 50% to 100% on two occasions, that would equal 1 charge cycle. In similar fashion, if you charge from 50% to 75% on 4 occasions, that would equal 1 charge cycle.

Cycle count is basically eye candy. The metric you need to watch is remaining capacity.
