bluetooth music from watch to earbuds - connectivity issue

I have a problem with trying to play music from my watch to wireless earbuds, it keeps switching over to my phones music (Apple Music) this is problematic because I use my watch/earbuds in my yard and my phone is in the house and it tries to connect to the phone but the connection is poor because of the distance and cuts in and out. I love the fact I can play music from my watch and not have to have phone on me, but this problem is very fustrating

Where is the music playing from? Your watch, or your iPhone? If the music is stored directly on your watch, you shouldn't be having this issue. If the music is coming from your iPhone, you would have this problem.

Is the phone in the house locked? Not turned off of course, but the screen locked. Is the watch cellular or GPS only. And if it is cellular, you can turn the phone off and go outside and this won't happen.

The music is playing directly from my watch as I have music playlist download it on the watch. However, when I am playing music from my watch to my wireless earbuds, it sometimes switches over to the phone. This is basically my problem. I assume it shouldn't happen, but I'm not sure if there's anything I can do to prevent this or to override the music playing from my phone.
