iPhone not automatically backing up

I have an iPhone 14 Pro, running on iOS 16. It is not automatically backing up overnight. The screen is locked, it’s plugged in, plenty of room on the cloud, set to back up over cellular, has a strong cellular signal. This is a recent problem that started in April 2023, after having the phone for six months. I know how to do the back up now feature, but that one time I forget, it’s going to be the time that Something Happens and I won’t have that back up that I need. Anyone have any suggestions?

My phone is set up to back up automatically, I have room in my Icloud but backups still aren't happening automatically, I have to manually push them. My phone isn't automatically updating the software either. I keep getting messages in the morning that is wasn't updated

Yes I am having same problem. My last back up says March 19, 2024. Today is March 24, 2024. I charge it every day and is connected to Wifi. This is horrible. Apple is lying that it automatically updates. i use this phone every day and new info is on there. So I do not know why they say it automatically updates when in my case and in many other cases it is not. I trusted apple on this. It was only that I saw today on idrop news that you need to make sure you have a backup of your phone. I hope the next time I get a new Iphone that I remember to do an immediate back up to the cloud. Apple needs to be very clear on telling people to do a back up in the first thing you see when they have new OS update and when you get your new phone especially for older people or others who have some memory issues. This is just crazy. They need to rephrase it to being “PERIODIC BACKUPS” I assumed when I saw automatic that it was constantly backing up. Again a miss use of a word.

By default, iCloud backups are set to occur automatically when certain conditions are met, such as when your device is connected to Wi-Fi, charging, and locked. However, you can manually disable automatic iCloud backups on your device. If you disable automatic backups, it means your device will no longer back up to iCloud automatically under the default settings. Instead, you'll need to initiate manual backups whenever you want to save your data to iCloud.

It's important to note that disabling automatic iCloud backups doesn't mean your device won't be backed up at all. You can still manually back up your device to iCloud or use alternative backup methods, such as backing up to a computer using iTunes or Finder.
