My iPhone XS Max (ios 16.0) automatically shuts off when I plug in my earphones. When I unplug it, the screen shows the apple logo and it turns on again and then immediately shuts off every time I try to plug the earphones back. The charger works when I use it and only shuts off when its the earphones. I bought the earphones two months ago at the apple store and have never experienced this issue until now. I hope someone can help me.

Since you mention purchasing the headphones at an Apple Store two months ago, it wouldn't hurt to make an appointment with your local Apple Store about the issue. Apple branded accessories have a one year warranty so if there is an issue it may be covered under warranty.
Since your iPhone shuts off when they are plugged in I wouldn't keep trying. That is likely a protection from something that could harm your iPhone if it were to stay on while they are plugged in.
