Confirm app download with assistive touch

Hi. I did activate a Confirm with assistive touch on my watch to make it able to confirm purchases by an assistive touch instead of double clicking a side button. Once I’m trying to download any app from AppStore in my watch it pops up the confirmation screen but I am not able to confirm, I have tried all the gestures, pinch, clench (double) but still cannot confirm. What am I missing?

We appreciate the update AlexBaybak,

In that case, let's go ahead and restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch. Since your iPhone can often affect the settings of your Apple Watch, we want to be sure both have been restarted since it often resolves abnormal behavior you may experience:

If the same behavior occurs, let's ensure that both the iPhone and Apple Watch are up-to-date. Updates can often resolve issues as they contain security and bug fixes. Prior to updating your iPhone or Apple Watch, we recommend completing a backup of your data on your iPhone to avoid potential data loss:

Lastly, if the same behavior occurs after completing the above steps, let's unpair and pair your Apple Watch to isolate this further using:

Let us know what happens after completing those steps, and we'll proceed from there.

Have a great day!

I did restart my watch and iPhone. Everything is updated to the last versions. And I did unpair and paired my watch and added again my cards to apple wallet. But the issue is still here.

At my watch I open App Store and trying to download a free app. Clicking Get button and getting a pop up note - Confirm with Assistive Touch. And now I’m not able to confirm it with any of gestures, but if I double tap a side button it is confirming and download is starting. Some bug in watchOS I guess…

At apple support Use AssistiveTouch on your Apple Watch - Apple Support (SG)

it is mentioned:

Once you turn on this feature, you can confirm an Apple Pay payment using the action menu, or unlock your Mac with a double clench.

I did try to open an action menu once a confirm note pops up, but there are no any way to confirm download…

Hey there AlexBaybak,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We're happy to provide some assistance.

Make sure your Face ID is set up. You would use Face ID to confirm payments using AssistiveTouch instead of double-clicking the side button as outlined here:

Use AssistiveTouch on iPhone - Apple Support

Set up AssistiveTouch
Siri: Say something like: “Turn on AssistiveTouch” or “Turn off AssistiveTouch.” Learn how to use Siri.
Or do the following:
1. Go to Settings  > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch.
2. Turn on AssistiveTouch.
3. To customize AssistiveTouch, tap any of the following:
* Customize Top Level Menu: Tap an icon to change its action. Tap the Decrement button or the Increment button to change the number of icons in the menu. The menu can have up to eight icons.
* Single-Tap, Double-Tap, Long Press, or 3D Touch: Assign custom actions that run when you interact with the menu button. 3D Touch is available only on supported iPhone models.
* Create New Gesture: Add your favorite gestures.
* Idle Opacity: Adjust the visibility of the menu button when not in use.
* Confirm with AssistiveTouch: On an iPhone with Face ID, confirm payments with Face ID by using AssistiveTouch instead of double-clicking the side button.
Tip: To turn AssistiveTouch on or off quickly, set up Accessibility Shortcut, then triple-click the side button or Home button (depending on your iPhone model).

Keep us posted.

Have a great day!

Hi Rob. Thanks for reply. The assistive touch on my iPhone is working well, my issue is with Apple Watch. I’m not able to confirm app download or payment by using gestures on my watch with assistive touch being activated. When I’m trying to download some free app on my watch the assistive touch window pops up and I cannot confirm download with gestures, it’s still necessary to double click on side button.

I will contact the support, thanks. Meanwhile could you tell me please what’s happening with yours Apple Watch if you activate the Confirm with AssistiveTouch feature and try to download any free app directly from Watch App Store. Will you be able to confirm the download by assistive touch gestures or not? If Yes - which gesture you have to use? Thanks.
