I moved my email from godaddy to my iCloud+ account. Wh do I now pay for the use of the domain name. Ie is it covered by the iCloud+ account or do I still need to pay godaddy?

I'm doing the same thing. I know I will still have to pay for them to host the domain. But I'm assuming shouldn't still have to pay for any email services that I have been paying them (like Microsoft 365 email).
You still need to pay GoDaddy. You are paying GoDaddy for hosting your domain name. The email comes with it. If you let the domain expire the email will expire with it. When this happens it won’t work with iCloud or your MacMail
