CarPlay, iPhone, and Verizon MiFi Device, how to use the MiFi and CarPlay at the same time?

We have a Pacifica that has UConnect. It has CarPlay. Through work, we have a MiFi device with unlimited data that we can use for trips, so the kids can use their iPads and we don't have to use our data plan. Is there a way to use CarPlay and the MiFi at the same time? Would it require the iPhone to be plugged into the car via a USB port freeing the wireless for the MiFi?
