If you have followed the steps in the resource linked to your post, If you see an alert that says "AirPods Mismatch", and still have the issue, is it possible you are using a different Apple ID on your new iPhone?
If so, you will need to use your old phone to sign out of Find My for the AirPods as mentioned in: Find your lost AirPods – Apple Support
We also recommend restarting your device and keeping it updated as those steps assure you have cleared out any minor software issues and are running the most current version.
