Turn off long press?

My elderly parent can’t help but press and hold a little too long when they try to make a phone call. So they see the app long press contextual menu and the experience substantially breaks down from there.

I tried turning haptic from fast to slow and it doesn’t help. Is there a solution I’m missing?

If not, please create a feature where we can turn off and on long press for those who have less control of the duration of their press. Accidentally deleting an app or not being able to make a call is higher risk then having the extra step of going to a menu to temporarily change a setting.

Hello Pacificnorthwest2,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you'd like to disable the touch-and-hold gestures on your iPhone. If so, we'd like to share some information with you. As you're already aware, there are some built-in accessibility options that allow you to slow down the gesture: Adjust how iPhone responds to your touch - Apple Support

However, there is no built-in option to turn this feature completely off. Apple does appreciate all feedback regarding their products, services, and features. If you'd like to provide feedback on your experience with their products or services, you can do so using this link: Legal - Unsolicited Idea Submission Policy - Apple

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Take care.

Unfortunately, even with Assistive Access on, long-press is still an issue. My Dad was unable to use the phone because he'd accidentally long-press the contact he was trying to call and then he'd get a menu popping up asking if he wanted to call them or text them. He doesn't do text, so this was particularly annoying. He had to switch back to his android, which sucks because I feel like I wasted a ton of money buying him an Apple Watch Series 9 and upgrading my iPhone so he could have my old one to pair with the watch. Now, the watch is barely more useful than his old Casio except that he needs to charge it daily rather than having the battery replaced one or two times a decade.
