After recently updating (currently on 16.5.1) my iPhone SE is showing some emails as read when I did not read the email. Others are showing unread. There does not seem to be any pattern as to why some show read (when not opened or read) Please help

Are there any other devices that are linked to your email? Depending on your email provider, if the email is read on another device, then your email on your phone may show up as already read. (i.e. If you check your email on a computer, it can show up as a read on your iPhone.)
If no other devices that you know of are linked to that email, then we suggest you reach out to your email provider for continued assistance.

Thanks for your response! I appreciate it. There are no other devices linked to this and it makes no sense to me that this would be a gmail problem. This appears to be exclusively an iPhone issue.
