Why the other order is preparing to ship while the other is still waiting for payment?

Hello! I ordered an iPad Air (5th gen) using the education discount, which means it has a free Apple pencil. However, my concern is that I already paid and only the free Apple pencil has a preparing to ship status while the other (the iPad) is still waiting for payment status. That is why, I am confused because I already paid, but how come the iPad itself is still on that status? I am just concerned because I already paid a significant sum of money.
