Try the following:

  1. Install the Google Photos app on your iPhone.
  2. Leave the backup setting in Google Photos disabled so you don't unintentionally upload your device's photos to Google.
  3. Then go album by album in Google Photos, manually selecting all the photos, then tap Share and Download. This will save the photos from Google to your device's camera roll.

This should include any date/time metadata, location metadata, and notes/captions you added to the photos in Google, but it's good to spot check and make sure all the data is carried over to the iPhone. It will not automatically tag the people in your photos; you will need to do that yourself on your iPhone.

Once you've copied all your photos from Google to your iPhone and you synced your photos to iCloud, it should be safe to delete them from Google.

I want all my past photos on my Samsung transfer to my iPhone please

If you were using Google Photos on your Samsung, then download the Google Photos app onto your new iPhone as mentioned in my previous reply.

If the Photos where stored directly on the Samsung phone, then you can use the Movie to iOS app to transfer your content to your iPhone.

Alternatively you can use an external drive, flash drive or external SD card reader to transfer content from the Samsung to the iPhone.

If I remove the Google Photos from my iPhone 14 Pro, in what way does that affect my iCloud Photos?

Be careful.

Deleting a photo from any device connected to iCloud Photos will delete it from all devices connected to that account, and from iCloud.

If you are connected both to iCloud Photos, and to Google Photos, and you start deleting photos (to "free up Google cloud space) under the mistaken impression that you will still have them in iCloud, you will lose those photos. If you are connected to both, and you are trying to quit using Google Photos, I believe that you would need to stop syncing to Google Photos BEFORE doing anything to delete photos in Googe's cloud. Then you would still need to proceed carefully.

Offered in the spirit of caution, but without any guarantees:

"Google Photos and ~iCloud Photo Library~ use different approaches to data management and should not be used to backup images simultaneously - doing so can possibly result in lost images..  It is unclear whether you use this, but I am including this for others who might see this post in the future."
