Change my email address Apple ID

I’m trying to set up a new phone, I forgot my password for a crazy email that was set up by ??? that I don’t even use. So, I went through the appleid page and reset my email and password. All was accepted. They sent a verification to the email that I use. Here’s the problem. When I go to sign into my settings the old email , one set up by ??? That I never use and can’t get to is still being used! So, I can’t still use my new phone because that crazy email is still there with my name! Help!
