iPhone is visible in MacOS Photos but not in MacOS Finder

iPhone 12 Pro Max Model MGCM3LL/A with iOS 16.5.1 connected directly to a USB port on an iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017, with MacOS Ventura 13.4.1, causes a "Trust This Computer" dialog on the iPhone (as expected) and then photos are imported into the MacOS photos app from the iPhone: the "iPhone 12 Pro Max" is listed in the "Devices" section on the list of the MacOS Photos App (see attached image).


However, the MacOS Finder does not show the iPhone? see attached image


--> Access to the iPhone is needed to perform a backup of the iPhone to the Mac or to perform a reload of iPhone software
