Mac Book Pro 2019, Touch Bar started flickering and won't stop.

The whole point of the laptop is for it to be portable. Not a “headless server” or “clamshell mode” the cost of the laptop Is the micronization of the tech.

If we can show a history of sl thing not working, Apple should take note and repair it.

Sure, but as long Apple is not caring to acknowledge and repair it, I have no other choice than make that wasted $$$ useful in some way. Imagine.. my MBP 2020 has 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.. at least all movies run very smooth on my network.. such a shame! PS I'm not going to buy an external monitor and keyboard.. got myself another laptop instead.

So, just got back. No. It's not a free repair.

I know the Genius bar at the store. Since I was one of the original Geniuses at that store when it opened.

There are no recalls and no emergent issues in their system either for this issue either.

So for now, it's a black duct tape and wait and see issue.

2017 MacBook Pro 15".

My issue doesn't seem as bad as others.

The flickering is only with the lights under the 'Siri' button, and only when the bar 'goes to sleep'.

Meaning that I don't do anything for a few minutes, the bar goes to sleep & the lights under the Siri logo start flashing.

Annoying? Yes.

But all I need to do is hit the spacebar, or any key to wake the spacebar up and the flashing goes away.

Well.......if I look closely, there is still a light flickering 'under' the Siri icon (or whichever icon is on the right at the time).

Just remember, not all those with this issue are on this site.

At what point does it make sense to look at a possible CALS?

Does the procedure described in the article remediate the problem in your mac?

I am in this exact situation with 2020 MBP. I suspect it's a bigger problem and should be part of a recall.

I'm having the same issue and I thought it was caused by any new message notification. Later then I noticed it was flickering even without any notification.

I have been and currently am using ventura, got the flickering issue for more than half a year since then.

How long was the Touch Bar covered?

The Touch Bar has only been covered for about 24 hours, but so far so good. When open in the past -- it flickered 90% of the time EVERY time I used it out of clamshell mode. Good luck!
