what cable to buy for my IPad 10th gen.

I just bought a new IPAD 10th generation and it came with only one charging cord - and of course the port is not compatible with the old IPAD I'm replacing. I want to buy a second one (shorter) to plug into my car charging station. I'm so confused on which one to buy. So many options i.e. Lightning vs USB-C, male vs female, etc. It's all greek to me and the Apple website is no help. Aagghh - please help!!!
