So what's the solution now?

That iPhone has a hardware problem.

Could be a bad display, failing graphics, a battery problem, or something else.

If you can still use enough of that display to get a backup, go get that backup Right Now.

Then get this iPhone XR repaired or replaced.

Given the age, it'll probably be a replacement.

PS: iPhone XR can't run the upcoming iOS 17 version arriving later this year.

Won't it have any negative effect on the phone functions if the screen is replaced?

If the faulty component here—whether the display or something else—is replaced by Apple or an Apple authorized repair provider, no.

If the faulty component is replaced by somebody else, ask them. Apple doesn't sell replacement parts for an iPhone XR to third party providers.

If the iPhone has suffered some other damage, the repair provider may or may not continue with the repair.

If you want an estimate and related details, contact Apple Support. Use the Support button in the lower left corner of this webpage, and chat or call Apple as available. Estimates are typically free, and with no commitments. You will have to bring the iPhone into Apple or to an authorized repair provider for that estimate; so that Apple or the provider can see the particular details of this iPhone XR.
