Did you ever run Etrecheck and at least look at the diagnostic?
Does the camera even appear in System Information?
It seems to me that the camera may have failed, but we did not get much information to work on.
After every check possible a senior advisor had me factory reset the computer. The camera still doesn’t work. Diagnostics show no hardware issues. They told me to take it to the Apple Store so today I drove hours to get there. The store is in Middlesbrough. The guy was rude and unhelpful. I was stunned. I am now taking it somewhere else to another computer technician to see if they can help. I won’t be buying another apple computer now. Back to PC I guess
Thanks for the suggestion. I ran all the diagnostics. no hardware problems. Since the factory reset I have lost all my iMovie projects and a bunch of other stuff and now the computer gets really hot. It was all perfectly fine until I did the latest OS Monterey update. I will try the etrecheck but it's going to an apple technician at another independent place next Tuesday. All very inconvenient and disappointing. I won't be buying another.
