Is it okay to charge iPad Air when using with external monitor

like would it affect battery life overtime?

and is it safe to do so?

Yes, you can safely charge your iPad while connected to a monitor - and in fact, the iPad is designed to be used while charging from any source. Your iPad will automatically and optimally regulate battery charging.

Many external displays that support DP Alt Mode over USB-C will actually charge the iPad while connected.
