IPhone 13 has black screen but i can hear the charging sound and vibrations

I woke up this morning and my phone screen was black and would not turn on. I charged it on a wireless charger for a while in case there was something wrong with my usual cord but nothing happened. I did not drop it, get water on it or update it and it was working perfectly last night. I can hear the noises and feel the vibrations when I plug it in to charge it and when I click the volume and power for a forced restart. However if I try calling it, it goes straight to voicemail as if it is off/dead and it does not get any notifications. The forced restart does not do anything to help. I tried putting it into recovery mode and connecting it to itunes and a message pops up saying "there is a problem with the iphone that requires it to be updated or restored" I tried updating it 4 times on two different computer and nothing happens. I have not backed up my phone in a while so I would rather not restore and erase everything unless there are no other options available.

Hey there fluffycat639,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

Just to confirm, were you able to successfully complete a force restart using the steps shown here: If your iPhone won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

On your iPhone 8 or later, including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)
1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
4. If your phone doesn't turn on, follow these steps to check your hardware and charge your phone. You might need to charge for up to an hour.
5. If your phone still doesn't turn on, contact Apple Support.

For example, were you able to see the Apple logo and the display remained black afterwards?

If so, then you did a great job with moving to reinstalling the iOS as the next step. After choosing the "Update" option while your iPhone is in recovery mode, do you see any particular alerts or errors come up during the process? If so, check out this next resource that can help with troubleshooting some restore errors that you may see: iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support

Keep us updated on what you find.

Take care.

I encountered a similar issue before, and my solution was to charge the phone. After about 20 minutes of charging, it returned to normal. If you have already tried a force restart and updating your iPhone, you can try the following methods:

  1. Charge (solved my issue) : Try charging it for 10-30 minutes to see if there are any changes.
  2. Recovery mode: check Apple Support guide or use 3rd party recovery mode tool (totally free)
  3. Apple Support: none of these steps work, visit an Apple Store.
