On/Off button on magic keyboard for Mac M1

What does a On/Off button on the "magic" keyboard ?

Totally new, iMac M1.

Keyboard is wired with a C-cable through a splitter with multiple ports, including one C-port.

If the slider on the keyboard shows Green, does it mean the keyboard connected ?

And if it's not on Green ?

Since I got this iMac a month ago, the keyboard slider was on OFF, but was working.

Suddenly today this keyboard stopped responding.

So, was the keyboard using an internal battery ?

The Magic Keyboard is a wireless Bluetooth device that has a built-in rechargeable battery. It can act as a wired keyboard when the charging cable is plugged in. If the keyboard switch is off, it won't work in wired or wireless mode.
