Update Apple ID setting request

Good day,

I just lost my first iphone and I got a new one and using forgot password, I was able to sign in into my Apple ID account.

However after reset of the password I am logged in but getting a message in settings "Update Apple ID settings).

I clicked on the message to update my apple id and it was requesting the password i used on the lost phone which i have tried what i could remember but it continues to fail.

how can apple verify my identity and allow me access since I am the original owner and they have records of the reset password i just did few days ago which was successful.

All i need is to update my apple ID so that i can retrieve backup data.
