Stop Cursor from Jumping Around While Typing on MacBook Pro?

Whenever I type on the MacBook Pro keyboard if my even so much as brushes the trackpad while I type, the cursor moves to wherever the mouse is pointed at the time, messing up my entire sentence. How do I disable this behavior? It's an irritating, long running problem that I have never seen an end to. I type in home row, normally, like I always have since the 90's. I've seen another post claiming that it automatically "detects" this and disables it while typing but this claim is clearly and patently false as I experience this 100's of times a day.
