can macbook air 2019 display resolution support 3440*1440@60hz ?

I bought a LG 34'' monitor (physical resolution is 3440*1440 @ 160HZ) .

I used this monitor as a external monitor for my MacBook Air 2019.

but if I set the resolution is 3440*1440, the highest refresh rate is 50hz.

if I lower the resolution to 2560*1080, the I can use the 60hz.

According to MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2019) - Technical Specifications

  • One external display with 5120-by-2880 resolution at up to 60Hz

is that anything I misunderstood?

Sorry, my mistake. You did say you had a monitor, not an HDTV.

As you have experienced, all display resolutions & refresh rates are not necessarily available with all available monitors when used in conjunction with your Mac laptop. Why you are not able to get a 60 Hz refresh rate may just not be compatible with your specific monitor.

However, there are still a couple of choices available to you:

  1. Wait until someone else here, that has these exact (or very similar) devices, that has a solution to chime in, or
  2. Contact Apple Support directly for further assistance with this issue. To do so, simply select the "Support" link on the lower left-hand side of this forum's web page.
