Apple Watch Series 8-9 is too dim at night

Even on the brightest setting, it is so dark at night i cant read anything. Getting very close to just returning it. This isnt acceptable if i can only comfortably use this watch in good light. How is this an issue in 2023????

I was shocked i couldn’t manually crank up the brightness if i wanted. Literally every modern device allows this except this one device. Steve Jobs would throw a fit if he saw this.

I've got the same problem. the automtic brightness control dims my series 9 when there is no ambient light so low that i can't read it anymore. As soon as i e.g. point a flashlight at the watch it turns brightness up and i can read it.

This is unacceptable. There are plenty of persons with this problem.

Please provide a setting to control brightness in dark environment!

I just bought the Ultra 2 yesterday. Definitely too dim on low lights. It’s totally useless for me like this. And what’s it with the frequent password requests? How loud should users complain before Apple fixes the issues? The whole adjust brightness thing doesn’t work. I’ve been using my series five with no issues. I just gave it to my wife and bought this for $1,200+ yesterday. Unfortunately I’m taking it back to the store. This is definitely not a hardware issue.

Same here. Bought the Series 9 and returned it after a few days. If you can't read the screen because it gets too dim in low light and you can't adjust brightness properly, what is the point...I don't mind loosing 15-30 min of daily battery life so I can adjust brightness the way I want it. Apple, FIX THIS!

Here is how I fixed my Apple Watch Series 8 to make it visible at night: I turned the display brightness all the way down to the left. Then I turned on an Accessibility feature called “Minimum Brightness.” I was worried how this would affect my battery, but so far it does not seem to be using much battery. The display is still dim at night with Sleep on, but at least I can read it.

BTW My battery consumption went WAY DOWN when I turned off the “always on” display and I have not missed it a bit.
