i just updated my iPad and now the touch pad will not work

I updated my iPad last night and now the Touch ID is not working. How do I uninstall the latest update - or what do I need to do?

If your iPad is not working as expected immediately after performing a system software update, try a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:


Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.




Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.



If difficulties persist, you may need to repeat setup TouchID. The iPad User Guide describes the straightforward process:

If you are having difficulty setting-up TouchID, refer to this support page:

If Touch ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support


If you are unable to resolve the problem, you might be well advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support.
