Water damage iphone 11

I am at Lake Michigan and my phone took a quick fall into the water while getting into a kayak. After 15-20 seconds I was able to retrieve my phone and left it drying in the shade on the beach. While kayaking my girlfriend lost her phone in far deeper water for 25-30 minutes before I could retrieve it with snorkel gear.

Her phone is COMPLETELY fine.

My phone started glitching on the top and now today (two days later) is completely shut off. Why did this happen? Design flaw? Apple needs to pay me for this.
