Messages 'failed to send' when they do actually send

All of a sudden all of my messages "fail to send" and i get the little red exclamation mark aswell as the notification saying the message was not sent however the messages actually do deliver (both iphone and android) however they are slightly delayed compared to normal.

I contacted my provider and they said it is not an issue on their end as the messages are actually delivering and insist its an iphone issue.

I have force restarted my phone multiple times, turned areoplane mode on and off, closed all apps etc. and nothing seems to work.

Hi helpmeplease,

If you've followed all the troubleshooting steps in the link below, contacted your wireless carrier and still need help with messages failing to send. We recommend that you contact Apple Support directly so that they can work with you to find a solution.

If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you try to send a message and you see  Exclamation mark icon with an alert that says Not Delivered, follow these steps:

1. Check your network connection.
2. Tap  Exclamation mark icon, then tap Try Again.
3. If you still can’t send the message, tap  Exclamation mark icon, then tap Send as Text Message. Messaging rates may apply. Contact your carrier for more information.

Learn what to do if you still receive a Not Delivered alert after you try to send your message as a text message.

You can set up Messages so that it automatically tries to send messages as an SMS when iMessage isn't available. Go to Settings > Messages, and turn on Send as SMS.

You can contact Apple Support by clicking here: Apple Support or calling the most local number in your region: Contact Apple for support and service.

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!
