Why do Numbers spreadsheets produce different graphs?

I've noticed that Numbers is producing different graphs in different spreadsheets from the same source data. One has a frame or border around the whole graph and one doesn't. The graphs are the same on both my Mac and iPad.

Is there a setting that controls this?

I am sure it will be something simple :-)

Any help appreciated.

If the spreadsheet is all on one sheet, one way to "recreate" it in Numbers is to

  1. Copy that sheet (right click on the sheet tab and choose Copy Sheet)
  2. Create a new Numbers document
  3. Paste in the sheet (right click on the tab for sheet 1 and choose Paste Sheet)

The sheet will look as it did in the other document but you can select the chart and click on a Chart style to change the chart to a Numbers-style chart and select the table and click on a table style to convert the table into a Numbers-style table. The Excel palette of colors will be gone so you can use Numbers-style colors.

Regarding boxes around charts in Numbers, you can manually put a box (shape) around a chart. Insert a shape, set the fill color (none, usually) and border, set it over the chart and size it accordingly, then send it to the back (or send the chart to the front) so the chart is on top of it .
