Connecting Canon IP8720 Printer Wirelessly to Mac Mini

Hello All and thank you for trying to help me. I am at my wits end, truly hating the fact I bought this Canon IP8720 printer. 4 hours of my life has been spent trying to connect this to my Mac and I have gone down one rabbit hole after another. Nothing works at all. Canon's "directions" are the most convoluted steps one can possibly imagine. I need help from someone who can dumb down these steps so that a 5 year old can understand them. The only thing I have managed to achieve is install the driver and the network tool. I am dead in the water after that. My wireless router is from Xfinity.

Can someone please write step-by-step what I need to do to connect this printer?

Hi,

The Canon iP8720 is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a supported AirPrint model. This means that you should not have to install any drivers/software, provided that the printer and the Mac mini are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router).

First of all, connect the printer (wirelessly) to the Wi-Fi router. If the router supports it, you may be able to use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup, a simplified connection method) for this.

Then you may want to reset the Mac's printing system and try to re-add the printer as an AirPrint printer.
